How it's made

Garden waste from households and the household recycling centres across Buckinghamshire is collected and taken to composting facilities across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire.

You can read more about the process.

The Buckinghamshire Community Compost comes from a composting facilities in Sutton Courtenay just 20 miles from Buckinghamshire.

The garden waste at this site comes from a range of sources with over 1,000 tonnes coming from Buckinghamshire. The garden waste is shredded and then piled into vast compost heaps. It is turned regularly and reaches temperatures over 50 degrees. It makes for a fantastic compost and can go from garden to compost in as little as 8 weeks.
