Book a tour of a household recycling centre
Have you ever wondered what happens to your waste and how your recycling is segregated for reprocessing? Come on a tour of your local recycling centre and find out!
Where you can book a tour
You can book a tour at either:
- Aston Clinton recycling centre
- High Wycombe recycling centre
The minimum age of visitors is 12.
There is no fee for booking a tour.
What to expect when you visit
The tour will be led by the Education Manager who will guide the group around the facility and explain what happens to each material collected.
You'll see the plant in full operation and have the opportunity to ask any recycling queries you may have.
What you need to wear
All participants (both child and adult) will need to wear flat, closed in shoes. Hi-visibility tabards will be provided and must be worn at all times throughout the tour.
Anyone who arrives in unsuitable footwear or is unwilling to wear a high-visibility tabard will unfortunately not be allowed to participate (various tabard sizes are available, email us if you have any concerns).
Preparing for the tour
The Education Manager will be able to agree the group size with you when you book.
A pre-tour assessment will be carried out for groups which include children or vulnerable adults. This allows group leaders the opportunity to go through the risk assessment with the Education Manager in advance of the tour. The Education Manager will agree a minimum adult-to-child ratio with you before the tour.
At the end of the tour visitors will have the opportunity to view the onsite reuse shop and possibly pick up a bargain.
